Funding Behavioral Health Services in Rural Communities – An Opportunity
Continually challenged to do more with less, in areas with few funding opportunities, rural nonprofits face a host of challenges – financial, strategic, and organizational. Now, more than ever, the philanthropic community needs to understand these unique challenges, appreciate the differences between rural nonprofits and their urban counterparts, and help them overcome the funding gap. This is especially true in the area of behavioral health (including substance use disorders). Our June 14th meeting will provide examples of two areas in the state (Nantucket and Central MA) addressing such challenges, and the way nonprofits and funders are coming together to address the needs.
More details on the subtopics and speakers coming soon.
About the Network:
The Behavioral Health Funders Network (Network) is a state-wide network of funders working in the area of behavioral and mental health and wellness. For over 4 years the Network has been meeting regularly for peer learning, knowledge sharing, and relationship building. Key norms of this Network are trust, confidentiality, and a learning/growth mindset.
The stated goals of the Network are: 1) Improve behavioral health services by providing a space and opportunity for learning from one another, and 2) Exchange information with the potential for collaboration on projects ranging in size from large, overarching initiatives to smaller community-based projects.
