CFO & Finance Staff Roundtable: Centering Diversity When Engaging Vendors
Zoom - information to be emailed
Grantmaker, Philanthropic Advisor
Many of our Foundations have been articulating and operationalizing our commitment to racial equity in recent years, putting our values into action through grantmaking strategies as well as impact investing. As CFOs and other staff responsible for our organization’s infrastructure, members of our working group have recognized that diversifying a foundation’s pool of outside vendors and contacts can be a strategic tool to put non-grant dollars to work in expanding diversity equity and inclusive practices.
This CFO Roundtable gathering is a time to surface questions and share experiences as they relate to a key component of the CFO job description: identifying and securing vendors. Initial discussion questions include: How can vendor policy align with foundation mission? In what ways does building a local, diverse vendor pool move us towards racial justice? How can we influence and create expectations around diversity with both existing and new vendors? What does diversity look like?
The session will be applicable to foundations of all sizes.
We will work in plenary and small groups.
