The MA Arts Funders’ Network identified Race, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (REDI) as a priority area for learning and potential collaboration. In October 2020, we held a meeting that aimed to stimulate interest in, and lay groundwork for, establishing a path forward around racial equity work.
The April session builds off of the October meeting, as well as previous REDI work. We will explore the commitments our Network can make as it seeks to build capacity and knowledge in order to act against bias, racism, and white supremacy culture in multiple spheres, including: our work together; our work in our own organizations; our work in grantmaking; and our work in service of a just and racially equitable future, especially in the arts and culture sector.
If you are interested in further examining the ABFE statement “We Must be in It for the Long Haul”, Black Foundation Executives Request Action by Philanthropy on Anti-Black Racism there will be optional time at the end of our meeting to do so.
The session is being planned by Cathy Edwards, Executive Director of the New England Foundation for the Arts, Caroline Easley, Program Director at the Wagner Foundation, and Cuong Hoang, Director of Programs at Mott Philanthropic.
About the Network:
Massachusetts Arts Funders' Network bi-monthly meetings provide a learning opportunity on an issue or trend facing the arts and cultural community coupled with a chance to network and update colleagues on their current work, challenges, and opportunities in a roundtable format.
Zoom information will be sent via email in advance of the session.
