Philanthropy's Role and the 2030 Census: A NY/NE Regional Funder Conversation

This event is generously sponsored by the Massachusetts Census Equity Fund and the Merck Family Fund.

Funders, you are invited to connect with a panel of leaders for a briefing about the critical role philanthropy plays in preparing for the 2030 Census.

One count every ten years decides who gets represented and who gets resourced. The goal of every census is to “count everyone once, only once, and in the right place.” Not only is that catchphrase memorable, it is mandated by the 14th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution! The 2030 Decennial Census is facing severe challenges and philanthropy plays a critical role in leading the charge and supporting our community partners to ensure that everyone in our state gets counted!

We invite you join a conversation with leaders from philanthropy, philanthropic-serving organizations and their partners from across the NY Census Region, which includes: Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, Vermont, and Puerto Rico, for a shared conversation about the upcoming 2030 Decennial Census.

This session will:
- EXPLAIN WHY philanthropy should be engaged in preparations for the 2030 Census
- SHARE the challenges we face NOW to ensuring a fair and complete count in all of our states
- GIVE a “Call to Action” across our states to engage, educate and support census 2030 preparation

Speakers will include:
Mary Skelton Roberts, CEO of Philanthropy Massachusetts
Ali Noorani, President and CEO of the Barr Foundation
Brandon McKoy, President of the Fund for New Jersey
Sol Marie Alfonso Jones, Senior Program Director, The NY Community Trust
