Site Visits: Let's Improve Them!
In this program for nonprofits and funders, we will collaborate in real time to co-create a Site Visit Best Practices document, which could also be called Top Tips for Site Visits, Site Visits Dos & Don’ts, or something else altogether. The program is designed for:
- nonprofit representatives involved in planning and hosting site visits
- foundation representatives who are in relationship with nonprofits and plan site visits as part of proposal processes, grant reporting, or ongoing relationship building
The program will kick off with a summary of learnings gathered through (a) a survey of nonprofits conducted by Philanthropy MA to collect feedback and experiences on site visits, and (b) a program of the
Mid-to-Senior Level Program Staff Learning Network titled
Site Visits to Deepen Knowledge & Relationships. You can read a summary of that meeting
here.
Join us, nonprofit and foundation staff, as we work together in small groups to propose ways to improve key aspects of the site visit process: from considering meeting timing and logistics, setting clear objectives, aligning expectations, operating with an authentic sense of humility and respect, and more.
The session objective is to co-create a brief resource to share with funders and nonprofits as they work to increase transparency and build authentic relationships using site visits as a tool during the grant process and beyond.
