State Budget and Tax Outlook

State budgets are set to shrink significantly in 2025 as the era of post-pandemic federal aid, record spending, and tax cuts comes to an end. Anticipated cuts to Medicaid, SNAP, and other federal safety net programs will shift costs to states, forcing policymakers to choose between raising taxes or cutting spending and will touch every corner of philanthropic work — early childhood, health care, state and local government services, climate change, housing, senior services, family support services, and much more. How is Massachusetts working to address these challenges?

Speakers from Mass Budget and Policy Center and the MA Federal Funds & Infrastructure Office will discuss where the state budget stands now, how the Commonwealth is thinking about the impacts of changes to the federal budget, and what advocacy measures can be taken to ensure people can access resources from the State.
