Philanthropy MA is pleased to announce that effective July 4, Alex McCray is being promoted into a new role at the organization as Vice President, Member Engagement and Strategic Initiatives. In this new role, Alex will oversee the strategy, design, planning and implementation of programs in philanthropy education to foster meaningful collaboration and engagement, learning and knowledge exchange. In partnership with CEO Jeff Poulos, Alex will lead the implementation of racial equity, equity, diversity and inclusion (REDI) strategies and support member development. Additionally, he will manage str
ategic initiatives and play a key role in creating and fostering a continuously learning organization.
Alex joined Philanthropy MA in August 2017 as Senior Director of Programs and has been overseeing philanthropy education and The Summer Fund. Under his leadership, Alex has spearheaded hundreds of educational programs for members, including the launch of Philanthropy 101, a Power & Equity series, and Philanthropy MA Annual Meetings. In addition, over the last five years, he has raised $6m in support for the Summer Fund, providing access to hundreds of youth for summer programming each year.
“The number of members at Philanthropy MA is at an all-time high, programming over the last two years has increased by 75%, and the philanthropic sector is at a crossroad in advancing principles of equity, accountability and working more effectively,” noted Jeff Poulos, CEO of Philanthropy MA. “Alex has been instrumental in helping Philanthropy MA get to this point. He’s a respected leader and colleague in the sector, and I am grateful he will be here to further advance our work in the years ahead.”
