Summary: 

The Boston Renaissance Charter Public School is seeking an Assistant Director of Development to join our team. The Assistant Director of Development will be instrumental in assisting our Director of Development and External Affairs in building a “best-practice” development operation. This is an important role as BRCPS builds a program designed to effectively fund its annual efforts with an eye towards a future Capital Campaign. The ideal candidate is an individual who has extensive and varied development experience, eager to assist in building a sustainable and highly functioning program that will benefit our scholars and community. We are seeking an individual with an entrepreneurial/“start-up” mentality, willing to partner with a team of individuals committed to establishing an effective and long-lasting Development program. 

 

Responsibilities: 

Partner with the Director of Development and External Affairs in the ongoing growth and implementation of a “best practice” development program, encompassing Annual Giving, Foundation/Corporate giving and individual prospect identification and cultivation. 

Develops, implements and oversees short and long-term action plans for fundraising activities, donor acquisition, special events, stewardship and communications. 

Directs the production of all fundraising reports and works with the Director of Development and External Affairs to set priorities and implement action plans, measure results and determine future strategies. 

Research grant opportunities, write grant applications and prepare grant reports, while ensuring alignment with funding priorities of BRCPS. 

Develop strategy designed to engage existing/lapsed donors while targeting new donors through various methods of engagement. 

Work in unison with the Director of Development and External Affairs in discovering and managing relationships with future foundation funders. This would include the submission and reporting of all foundation proposals. 

Work in unison with the Partnerships Coordinator to, strengthen existing partnerships and develop new partnerships leading to both programmatic and funded needs. 

Oversee donor database management and usage of donor base platform (Bloomerang), developing strategies and practices to maximize platform effectiveness.

Take a lead role in the collection of data, writing, management and submission of DESE Annual Report and Accountability Plan. 

Oversee the design and execution of Annual Fund appeals and all collaterals necessary to engage new and existing donors. 

Develop and maintain detailed prospect research on potential funding sources that will assist our efforts in obtaining necessary support. 

Oversee engagement events designed to highlight our community to potential donors while growing our base of support. 

Oversee all gift processing efforts while implementing a “best-practice” approach to receipt, acknowledgement and stewardship of individual gifts. 

Develop and support volunteer engagement efforts. 

Develop and continue effective communication efforts designed to engage our community in a variety of ways. 

Perform other duties and assume such other responsibilities as may be assigned by the Director. 

 

Qualifications: 

Bachelor’s Degree 

Dedication and commitment to BRCPS philosophy and mission 

5-7 years of generalist Development experience with supervisory experience 

Exceptional organizational and project management skills 

Strong communication and writing skills including proposal writing, emails and effective direct mail copy. (writing samples may be requested) 

Strong technical skills in database management (knowledge of Bloomerang a plus) 

Experience in prospect research on an individual and organizational level 

Ability to work independently as well as within a small team 

Exceptional interpersonal skills with colleagues and donors
