The Associate Director, Research and Evaluation will work with the Senior Director, Research and Evaluation to define and contribute to CJP’s strategic evaluation and measurement work, with a particular focus on the impact and outcomes of CJP’s investments. As a part of the research, evaluation, and measurement team, the Associate Director will support the implementation and management of comprehensive evaluation processes that lead to informed decision-making for CJP’s grantmaking in the Greater Boston Jewish Community. The Associate Director will also serve as an organizational resource to support a culture of learning as we seek to test-measure-learn-iterate.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

 

Evaluation Design and Execution

·      

Works with the Senior Director, Research and Evaluation to design research, measurement, and evaluation systems and processes.

·      

Manage implementation of evaluation processes through development of logic models, data gathering, and analysis.

·      

Work in partnership with the Strategy & Impact Department to define measurable outcome indicators for initiatives and organizations across the community.

·      

Provide guidance and expertise in developing and executing evaluation plans in partnership with senior staff, content and cohort leads, and other key stakeholders.

·      

Support a culture of evaluation throughout the organization by sharing of lessons learned and the integration of data into decision-making through the creation and delivery of training and self-service tools.

Data collection and analysis

·      

Maintain data systems and perform analysis using quantitative and qualitative data.

·      

Draft and implement data collection tools (i.e. interview guides, surveys, evaluations) based on the organization’s needs.

·      

Draft and present content on impact and evaluation for reports, presentations, or other materials that support the sharing of findings with internal and external audiences.

Reporting

·      

Primary oversight of CJP’s annual grant reporting, ensuring that metrics are measured consistently within and across CJP’s impact areas.

·      

Collaborate with donor relations and marketing teams to ensure that data is organized and presented in a format that helps content and cohort leads, senior staff, and external funders understand CJP’s impact.

·      

Special projects as required, may include collaborative assignments with other departments.

 

·

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education:

·      

Master’s degree in statistics, public policy, nonprofit management, or related field.

Experience:

·      

Minimum of three years of successful experience in research, evaluation, or program management roles (preferably in a nonprofit, human service or government organization).

Skills/Competencies:

·      

Thorough knowledge of the principles, practices, and procedures of research and program evaluation practices.

·      

Understanding of rigorous evaluation methodology.

·      

Demonstrated proficiency in database construction and management and statistical software (STATA, SPSS, etc.).

·      

Advanced statistics and analytical skills.

·      

Survey development experience, including experience with Qualtrics.

·      

Experience with building data visualizations in either PowerBI or Tableau.

·      

Strong ability to prioritize workload, distill information, synthesize and communicate effectively with others.

·      

Demonstrated ability to translate academic/theoretical knowledge into pragmatic approaches.

·      

Capacity to manage and organize confidential information.

·      

Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.

·      

Excellent communication, interpersonal, and writing skills.

·      

Self-motivation and sense of humor.

·      

Ability to work independently, creatively, and flexibly in a dynamic environment. 

·      

Ability to be flexible and adaptable to changes and shifting priorities.

Other:

·      

Strong personal commitment to CJP’s mission.

·      

Knowledge of issues confronting the Jewish community.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

 

·      

Remaining in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods, much of which will be working at a computer.

·      

Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds.
