Access Strategies Fund is seeking a strong candidate to fill our new Co-Director position! Access has just completed a realignment process to be strategic in our work as a strong, progressive funding partner in the greater Boston area. The new Co-Director will partner with Co-Director Jasmine Gomez, our former Program Director. We are seeking candidates from a wide range of backgrounds and perspectives, who will bring radical and thoughtful understanding of power dynamics and a deep critique to systems and institutions of oppression.
Access’s primary work is partnering with other progressive funders to build highly focused and timely philanthropy programs that aggregate funds for greater impact. We see our grantees as partners - we explore and experiment with how to shift structures and provide space for grassroots groups to build collective strategic design for programs and engage in participatory grantmaking. The new Co-Director will be responsible for helping oversee the programs/initiatives in our various strategic areas including Civic Engagement, Women’s Public Leadership, and Solidarity Economy.
The Co-Director will be responsible for helping design and manage grant making / participatory grantmaking, building funder collaboratives, convening and facilitating gatherings, creating agendas for trainings and meetings, preparing reports, and other activities that emerge from these initiatives. This role entails building strong relationships with a diverse set of partners including other foundations, individual donors, grantee organizations, city and state government representatives and other local partners. Additionally this role includes educating and advising philanthropists on emerging social justice investment strategies.
The ideal candidate will have experience in social justice organizing, know the Boston organizing field, have strong interpersonal and communications skills including writing, and be comfortable moving into and developing a new position in partnership with the other Co-Director. We seek someone with experience understanding and creating organizational budgets and working with a board of directors. Experience in social justice philanthropy is a plus but not necessary.
