Compensation:         $35,000 to 45,000 annualized salary

Mission: The Women’s Fund of Western Massachusetts (WFWM) is a public foundation serving Berkshire, Franklin, Hampshire and Hampden counties. We pool the resources of women and other allies to create access and opportunities for the girls and women of Western Mass. Position Summary: At approximately 20 hours per week, this position serves a key role within the WFWM’s small staff. The Community Investments Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the community investment activities of the WFWM. This includes responsive initiatives and grant making, capacity building events, research projects, and impact training activities. The Community Investments Coordinator works under the direction of the Chief Operating Officer and closely with WFWM staff, as well as the Board of Directors and volunteers to advance program objectives. This part-time, non-exempt position does require occasional evening and weekend hours.

Essential Duties:

  • Work with WFWM leadership team in implementing the evolving community investment activities of the WFWM
  • Help the organization identify those needs through conducting periodic surveys of women and girl-serving organizations and their staff in Western Massachusetts and working with research partners on the status of women and girls in our community
  • Act as the Women’s Fund liaison between the Community Partner associated with the Young Women’s Initiative and the National Philanthropic Collaborative of Young Women’s Initiatives to ensure our goals are met and that Community Partner is informed of any changing objectives for the program and to coordinate efforts with other YWI projects nationally
  • Coordinate with local and/or national research partners and program evaluators
  • Work with volunteer community investments committee to recommend grantees, post WFWM request for proposals for grant, scholarship and other community investment opportunities, prepare written summaries and analyses of applications to aid community investment committee and Board of Directors in evaluating and making awards
  • Manage grant making and other community investments files, including proposals, contracts, and reports and engage and coordinate volunteer committees as needed
  • Serve as primary liaison to  community investment award recipients and grantee organizations
  • Take the lead on recruiting women to be in the WFWM’s Leadership Institute for Political and Public Impact (LIPPI), working closely with Communications and Events Manager
  • Annually, lead a small group of volunteers to select students for LIPPI
  • Coordinate work with research partner for status of women and girls and seek out opportunities to report out on the results
  • Coordinate workshops and speakers for annual “Amplify” event(s) and similar capacity building events, as well as other partnered impact trainings such as Op Ed Project, Salary Negotiation Workshops, and others

Other responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with Communications & Events Manager on logistics of community investment events and in their efforts to promote and highlight the work of the Women’s Fund to the public
  • Keep current on issues of importance to the Fund by literature review, contact with social and professional communities, and participation in relevant meetings and conferences
  • Prepare Board and community reports on WFWM investments and activities
  • Provide additional administrative support as needed; other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree preferred, prior experience in program management and/or grant making required          
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office with strong knowledge of Word and Excel
  • Must possess strong interpersonal skills and be able to work independently in a fast paced environment
  • Must be detail oriented as well as able to envision and understand the bigger picture community investment plans of the organization
  • Must possess strong communications and organizational skills and the ability to multi-task, handling multiple projects with tight deadlines
  • Must possess a growth mindset
  • A sense of humor is a plus
