Development and Membership Manager

Supervisor: Director of Development

Salary Range: $45,000-$60,000

 

Overview:

The Development and Membership Manager is a full-time, exempt member of The Mount’s administrative staff supporting all fundraising activities as part of the Development Department. The Development and Membership Manager is primarily responsible for the membership program, database management, and coordination of all development events, and participates in other development initiatives as needed.

 

Responsibilities:

Induvial and Business Membership

  • Oversee and manage the individual and business membership programs including membership solicitation, cultivation, and stewardship.
  • Initiate strategies to promote new members and renewals.
  • Produce membership materials and coordinate all member communications.
  • Plan and implement member events.

 

Database Management

  • Supervise Development Associate in maintenance of Raiser’s Edge donor database including gift entry, reporting, and generating mailing lists.
  • Coordinate with the Finance Director on reporting of contributed income.
  • Send daily gift reports to staff.
  • Produce regular reports and as needed by Executive Director, Director of Development, and Board of Trustees.

 

Events

  • Assist the Director of Development with the coordination of, and attend all donor, cultivation, and fundraising events
  • Produce mailing lists, send invitations, and monitor responses.
  • Work with Food & Beverage, and Facilities departments for set-up, and all logistics of events.

Grants

  • Grants and Sponsorships: Assist in drafting selected grant and sponsorship proposals. Assist in compiling and organizing supporting materials for major grant application packages.
  • Work with Curatorial and Visitor Services Assistant to coordinate grants; maintain a spreadsheet of grant opportunities and application deadlines, coordinating efforts with staff as needed.

 

Major Gifts

  • Maintain up-to-date records on The Mount’s major gift prospect pool, including donor contacts, gift pledges and renewals, gift acknowledgement, cultivation, and stewardship.
  • Attend programs and special events on regular basis to engage and cultivate donors, both at The Mount and off-site.

 

 

Other Responsibilities

  • Draft all acknowledgment letters for Executive Director and Director of Development and ensure timely mailing
  • Provide Executive Director and Development Director with reports and other special requests as needed.
  • Plan annual fund appeals at year-end and in the spring, including drafting letters, compiling mailing lists, coordinating mailings, and acknowledging gifts.
  • Maintain Board Development Committee minutes and calendar, and maintain Development Department calendar.
  • Help prepare development documents for Board meetings and be present to take meeting notes.

 

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • 2-3 years of experience in non-profit development/fundraising.
  • Proficiency with Raiser’s Edge donor database software or similar CRM.
  • Proficiency using multiple desktop and mobile computer software programs including Word, Excel, Outlook and ability to learn new software systems: Windows and iOS.
  • Strong project management skills with attention to detail.
  • Team player, self-starter, interested in personal and professional growth.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Flexible with the ability to multi-task in a highly demanding and sometimes stressful environment.
  • Able to give and receive constructive feedback in any given situation.

Special Requirements:

Must have a valid Driver’s License.

Must be available on selected evenings, weekends, and holidays to attend programs and special events.
