Position Description:

The Greenway Conservancy is seeking a highly motivated and reliable individual for a full-time, paid position as a Development Intern. This is an opportunity to join a dynamic, young organization and learn the key skills required in fundraising.


The primary role of the Development Intern is to assist the Development Department in its daily operations and fundraising efforts. Responsibilities include monitoring the development inbox, preparing acknowledgement letters, supporting logistics and administrative details for donor events including our biggest fundraiser of the year, the Gala on The Greenway, and our young professionals event, Glow in the Park.


This is a full-time intern position that starts no later than mid-May 2020 and runs for ~15 weeks. We are especially interested in hearing from candidates who are available to start earlier. 



  • Work on logistics relating to Gala on The Greenway, Glow in the Park, and other donor events, including maintaining guest lists, preparing event materials, and coordinating event follow-up

  • Gift and pledge entry

  • Assist with donor mailings including gift acknowledgements

  • Help generate content for social media, eNewsletters, blog posts, and other electronic donor correspondence

  • Participate in aspects of the Mothers’ Walk paver program to help ensure its successful management, such as helping to produce certificates, acknowledgement letters, and paver installation notifications.

  • Respond to donors and track development team inbox

  • Assist in data entry by researching addresses for returned mail


Skills and Qualifications:

  • Entry-level position; enrollment in or a degree from an undergraduate program preferred 

  • Experience/interest in event planning, fundraising, and/or the nonprofit sector a plus

  • Demonstrated skill in:

    • Multitasking and attention to detail

    • Communicating professionally on the phone and over email

    • Creative problem-solving and staying calm under pressure

  • Computer proficiency, especially with Microsoft Office and Google Suite

  • Familiarity with Social Media tools such as Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn

  • Ability to stand for periods of time



  • This is a paid position with sick time benefits. We are looking for assistance up to 40 hours per week with preference to candidates who are available full-time. 

  • The position duration is ~15 weeks, beginning no later than May 2020.

  • Work hours are generally Monday through Friday 9am to 5pm. The intern will staff events on the evenings of May 21 and June 4 and 5, and additional evenings may be required, as well. 

  • Work will generally take place indoors. 

  • We will work with interns to receive college credit if interested.
