Position Summary

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Development Manager will help foster a culture of philanthropy within the New Art Center by assisting in the design and implementation of the New Art Center’s overall fundraising efforts as well as managing and executing the day-to-day activities for the development department.  The Development Manager will research prospects to help the Executive Director cultivate and steward donors. S/he/they will also work as a staff liaison with the Board Development committee to ensure that the board has tools and training and is fully engaged in the efforts to raise needed funds.

Position Details

  • Collaborate with Executive Director to create an annual development plan which increases revenues to support the strategic direction of the organization
  • Work with the Executive Director and Marketing Director to create a communication plan to promote the New Art Center and enhance engagement with fundraising activities; coordinate and facilitate the distribution of development communication
  • Oversee Individual and Corporate Giving programs, including cultivating and stewarding New Art’s small to mid-level donors and developing sponsorships/benefits for corporate supporters
  • Identify and develop prospects; work with Executive Director and board to expand potential donor base for major donors and corporate supporters
  • Work with Executive Director to plan and implement programs and special events to maximize prospect/donor engagement
  • Build relationships through phone calls, personalized emails, individual visits, event attendance and other communication(s).
  • Monitor and evaluate fundraising activities to ensure that goals are met; prepare/maintain forecasts & progress reports
  • Maintain records/data in the database; ensure donations are processed in a timely fashion and donors receive correct and personal acknowledgements of their gifts.
  • Liaise with book keeper and supervise interns as needed
  • Responsibilities also include writing grants, proposals, reports, appeals, solicitation letters, acknowledgment letters, developing supporting materials, and planning donor meetings
  • Other duties as assigned

Experience and Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree plus at least 2+ years of progressive development experience required
  • 2+ years’ experience with Office, Email Marketing Services, Quickbase, FileMaker Pro or similar database required
  • Excellent organizational and research skills and solid attention to detail
  • Enthusiasm for community building through art
  • Excellent written and communication skills required as well as a great memory for detail

Salary range: $48,000 – $50,000 annually
