Big Sister is looking for an energetic, experienced professional to develop and lead the Our Big Futures Program (OBF). OBF is Big Sister’s newest program that focuses on supporting Little Sisters to the age of 24, to achieve sustainable financial independence via career development and/or college success. The individual must be a self-starter who has program development experience and the ability to motivate and connect with youth; the proven ability to create and sustain meaningful relationships with program partners, employers and funders; experience with managing and analyzing data and making data informed decisions; and a deep commitment to youth development.

 

Responsibilities

Program development, implementation and management

  • Leverage input from key staff, including Vice President of Programs and Recruitment, program management and senior management to develop the OBF program
  • Lead the implementation of the OBF program
  • Develop criteria for evaluating the program; track, measure and evaluate performance
  • Work with Match Support Specialists to identify and enroll high school Little Sisters 
  • Orient Big and Little Sisters and Caregivers to OBF program
  • Conduct regular phone and email check-ins with Big Sisters, Little Sisters, and families, in order to: 
    • Promote information about career and college success programs, community resources, and agency activities
    • Provide referrals on behalf of Little Sisters to career and college success programs
    • Document support contacts for direct caseload according to department standards 
  • Collaborate with Program Events Coordinator to develop and implement enrichment match activities
  • Track all information needed for OBF reporting requirements; compile required internal and external program reports

 

Partnership development and stewardship

  • Foster relationships with a growing set of program partners in the college success landscape, including local colleges and universities, Boston Public schools and funders
  • Identify, recruit and steward workforce development partners
  • Facilitate quarterly meetings with funding partner

 

Marketing and outreach

  • Work with Vice President of Marketing to create and develop an OBF landing page
  • Develop and maintain relationships with Alumni Little Sisters to participate in OBF program

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required in relevant field
  • Minimum of three years’ experience in program development, career placement, higher education, or other transferrable field
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills in working with diverse individuals and groups; Awareness, understanding and appreciation of what it takes to build diversity
  • Ability to develop effective strategies for program conceptualization, development, implementation and evaluation
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Detail-oriented, highly organized and flexible in a dynamic environment
  • Ability and desire to effectively give and receive feedback as a tool of growth
  • Demonstrated initiative to identify problems and opportunities with recommendations for action
  • Experience in program development and implementation and working with teenage youth
  • Familiarity with challenges and opportunities for first generation college students
  • An understanding of Boston’s neighborhoods and schools
  • Holds self and others accountable to achieve positive outcomes and goals
  • Strong commitment to girls’ and women’s development
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends, approximately minimum 3-4 times per month
  • Ability to travel within Greater Boston via car or public transportation
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Prior experience utilizing a database management system to document case management and workflow management. Preference for those with Salesforce experience

 

Reports to: VP of Programs and Recruitment   

Language Skills: Written and oral fluency in English; candidates who also have proficiency or fluency in other languages are strongly encouraged to apply 

Start date: Immediately

Location: Big Sister Association, 20 Park Plaza, Boston, MA 

Compensation: Full-time, exempt position. Comprehensive benefits package including paid time off and health benefits.
