YouthBuild USA, located in Roxbury, MA, is the nonprofit support center for YouthBuild programs. It provides technical assistance, innovative program enhancements, quality assurance systems, and advocacy to help ensure that every YouthBuild program can create impact in its community.

POSITION SUMMARY:

This is a full-time position. The successful candidate will be a dynamic and organized individual with the ability to work effectively and collaboratively with other YouthBuild USA team members.

Reporting to the VP of Development, the Donor Relations Associate will support YouthBuild USA’s fundraising efforts. The Donor Relations Associate will focus on operations and development-related administrative support including database management and record-keeping, preparation of grant proposals and reports, support of team members in advance of donor meetings, prospect research, event support, gift processing, and the drafting of acknowledgment letters. The Associate will also play a key role in fundraising appeals and correspondence with both donors and prospective donors.

The successful candidate will have at least two years of experience in fundraising or operations. The Donor Relations Associate must be deeply committed to both YouthBuild USA’s mission and the young people served by YouthBuild programs globally.

YouthBuild USA is projected to expand its development function over the next few years; this is an opportunity for someone to have a tremendous impact and with an opportunity for advancement as our program grows.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coordinate and execute projects related to the administration of the Development function, including providing operations support for grant- and report-writing, donor communications, and fundraising events
  • Maintain an up-to-date comprehensive filing system and organize processes and systems for maximum efficiency for the team
  • Provide general administrative support to the Development team including maintaining lists, updating resources, copying, filing, mailing, conducting telephone follow-up, and scheduling meetings
  • Manage gift recording and acknowledgment processes: ensure all donations are recorded appropriately and that all donors are thanked in a timely manner
  • Manage donor contact lists using database/CRM
  • Support frontline fundraisers with prospect research, scheduling, and follow-up
  • Lead appeal campaigns, manage timelines, draft print, and electronic letters, coordinate with Communications Team and vendors
  • Oversee web and communications projects for the Development team, including social media and website updates; act as liaison with Communications Team
  • Support the team with performance data collection, coordination, and reporting
  • Other tasks, as assigned

Requirements

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Associate degree or relevant certification with 3+ years of experience or a bachelor’s degree with 2+ years office experience, preferably in a fundraising environment
  • Experience working in development, sales, education, or administrative support with nonprofit organizations, or with a technical service provider in a related field, preferably in youth development organizations
  • Computer and internet proficiency: Microsoft Office Suite, Office 365, and SharePoint experience a plus; strong skills in Excel and web navigation
  • Experience with cloud-based CRM/database systems, email marketing systems a plus; experience with Salesforce, Classy, and Mosaico platforms preferred
  • Excellent administrative, written, and verbal communication skills (editing, phone follow-up); comfortable speaking with external stakeholders; motivated self-starter
  • Exceptional attention to detail with laser-like focus on accuracy and results
  • Strong interpersonal skills to establish effective working relationships with all staff
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team within a diverse community
  • Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills to make processes and procedures more effective and efficient
  • Computer literate, with a comprehensive knowledge of computer software applications such as Microsoft Office Suite; ability to learn technology quickly
  • Ability to work with minimal direction and guidance after initial instruction
  • Ability to function under pressure, meet deadlines, handle multiple requests, and provide detailed and accurate execution of various tasks simultaneously
  • Available for occasional evening and weekend events; event planning and coordination experience a plus
  • Good judgment, sense of humor, discretion, and confidentiality
  • Experience working in development a plus, but not required

YouthBuild USA offers competitive salary and benefits, including health coverage, a 401(k) savings plan, life insurance, and disability benefits. The salary range is between $50K-$60K annually.
