Overview: Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director will have overall strategic and operational responsibility for Lovelane’s staff, programs, and execution of its mission.

Primary Responsibilities:

 Oversee and manage the Program, Finance, Development, and Facility arms of Lovelane and help establish and integrate new Human Resource services

 Review and update the strategic plan in conjunction with the BOD

 Monitor daily Lovelane operations to ensure the quality of service, cost-effective management of human and financial resources, and adherence to policies and procedures  Oversee and manage the program and barn team to provide high-quality service, safety, and proper staffing/efficiencies

 Manage all direct reports, including hiring, firing and annual evaluations; mentor directors in leading and managing their teams

 Work directly with the Finance Director to develop annual budgets, operating procedures and ensure overall financial management

 Monitor operating spending and capital projects  Manage and oversee facility operations, including facility plan and budget, and rental property

 Review activity and financial statements to determine progress and status in programs and revise programs and plans in accordance with current conditions

 Work with the Development Director to set and attain fundraising goals and to develop and implement all marketing strategies, communications and PR

 Work in conjunction with the Development Director in developing and transitioning major donor relationships and participate in major donor asks

 Oversee database management, human resource management and organizational collaboration

 Be the face of Lovelane, participate in outreach, networking and public relations

 Participate in all BOD meetings and events and prepare regular reports as requested


Knowledge and Skill Requirements:

 Collaborative leader who has skill in developing talent

 Ability to analyze and interpret financial data and develop financial plans and manage resources

 Professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills

 Ability to motivate teams and direct simultaneous projects, delegate responsibility and work effectively with a wide range of constituents in a diverse community

 5+ years’ management experience

 Non-profit organization experience preferred

About Lovelane Incorporated as a non-profit in 1992, Lovelane is a pediatric, therapeutic horseback riding program that has dramatically impacted the physical and cognitive development of children with special needs. Lovelane is recognized and regularly recommended by the Boston pediatric medical community for the treatment of a wide variety of special needs diagnoses. Lovelane provides 4,500 therapeutic sessions a year with the help of 215 volunteers. Lovelane serves students, ages 18 months to 22 years, from 39 communities throughout the greater Boston area with the help of 13 uniquely trained horses. Our core lesson program serves 104 students weekly in private mounted therapeutic riding lessons, and 36 additional children join us for unmounted therapeutic mentoring programs. Lovelane’s therapeutic riding lessons are 30-minute private sessions that focus on achieving wide-ranging therapeutic goals that align with our riders’ ever‐changing needs and development. Lovelane, located on 5 acres in Lincoln, MA, employs 3 full-time (40 hr/wk), 11 part-time (24-30 hr/wk) and 7 per-diem (less than 24 hr/wk) staff. Lovelane’s annual operating budget is just over $1 million. Program revenue provides about 40% of the budget. The remainder is raised through individual, corporate and foundation gifts, fundraising events and grants.
