The Phoenix is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to foster a supportive, physically active community for individuals who are recovering from a substance use disorder and for those who choose to live sober. By participating in our physical, social and educational programs, participants build confidence, self-respect, and community. Activities offered include group fitness, climbing, hiking, boxing, running, yoga, road & mountain biking, and strength training. Through traditional fundraising strategies and revenue-generating ventures, Phoenix is able to provide free programs for anyone with 48 hours of sobriety. The Phoenix currently operates in 45 communities across 24 states.



The Phoenix is looking for an experienced Project Manager to manage key organizational deliverables around operations and technology.  The primary responsibility of this role will be to coordinate people and processes to ensure that our projects are delivered on time and produce the desired results. The Project Manager will be the go-to person for everything involving a project's organization and timeline and quality of end-product or process.

The ideal candidate will have a wide background in technology implementation, process management, and analysis. You should be an excellent communicator and comfortable managing multiple tasks. You also need to be incredibly detail-oriented, be an excellent team player, and have a strong aptitude for problem-solving.  Excellent social skills, the ability to connect with partner organizations, and a strong connection to The Phoenix's mission are critical to this position. Preference will be given to those with personal experience in recovery from alcohol or a substance use disorder.



  • Create long- and short-term plans, including setting targets for milestones and adhering to deadlines
  • Delegate tasks on the project to employees best positioned to complete them
  • Make effective decisions when presented with multiple options for how to progress with the project
  • Serve as a point of contact for teams when multiple units are assigned to the same project to ensure team actions remain in synergy
  • Coordinate internal resources and third parties/vendors for the flawless execution of projects
  • Ensure that all projects are delivered on time, within scope and within budget
  • Measure project performance using appropriate systems, tools, and techniques
  • Report issues and escalate to management as needed
  • Manage cross-functional relationships with staff and outside contractors 
  • Establish and maintain relationships with third parties/vendors
  • Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation
  • Travel as needed
  • Fulfill other duties as assigned

  • Oversee operation and execution of new market expansion(s)
  • Select and implement various technology solutions to scale the Phoenix programming  
  • Drive implementation processes around national volunteer activation  
  • Implement improved quality assurance processes 



  • Bachelor's degree required 
  • Master's degree a plus 
  • 3-5 years of work experience 
  • Enterprise Project Management a plus 
  • Experience in Agile Methodologies a plus 
  • Experience working with Salesforce a plus 
  • Experience managing technology roll-outs a plus 
  • Proven value-add work experience in operations or consulting 
  • Solid technical background, with understanding of or hands-on experience with web technologies 
  • Excellent communication skills 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills 
  • Solid organizational skills including attention to detail and multitasking skills 
  • Expertise in Microsoft Office suite 
  • Entrepreneurial spirit, humility, and integrity
  • Ability to travel
