Job Title: Sales Development Representative

Organization's Website:

Resilient Coders is a highly competitive, free and stipended not-for-profit coding bootcamp. We train young adults of color from low income backgrounds in software engineering, and connect them with jobs as such. We do this because we believe in social justice through economic empowerment; and we understand that we all have a moral and economic imperative to create pathways to automation-resilient careers in our Black and Latinx communities.

We’re looking for a Sales Development Representative. We need to bring in more employer partners to hire our graduates. You will be working alongside (and reporting directly to) the Executive Director. Your mission will be to prospect and qualify employment partnerships, to nurture those relationships, and to manage the operations of the deal. This is huge: The point of Resilient Coders is to connect graduates with jobs. And it’s your role to procure those jobs. If you’ve ever wanted to do mission-based sales for a mission-based organization, this is it.

You will also do some of the relationship management involved in fundraising. You’ll research, and make contact with corporate social responsibility teams. At a certain point you’ll route some of those relationships to your colleagues at Resilient. You’ll be contributing to, and maintaining, our CRM (Hubspot).
Here are the specific competencies and attributes we’re looking for:

  • You’re mission-focused. You care deeply and intimately about the economic wellness of our Black and Latinx communities here in Eastern Massachusetts. We’ll look forward to hearing examples from your past in which you’ve acted on this passion.
  • You’re relentless. You find creative ways to keep key partners engaged. We’ll look forward to hearing examples of moments in which you were able to find creative solutions to resistance.
  • You have the written communication skills to adequately and equitably represent our students. You’ll be spending most of your time emailing prospective partners. You are their first impression of what they can expect from RC. We’ll look forward to your persuasive arguments in favor of your candidacy.

We are, first and foremost, a community of activists. Our work is rooted in history, social justice, and empirical evidence. Our team is an exceptional group of fighters who act with a sense of urgency, as though the economic wellness of their neighborhoods is under threat. We see Resilient Coders as a vehicle towards a bigger movement.

We’re CORI friendly and indifferent to whether or not you have a college degree. Please send an email to hiring (at) resilient coders dot org, with your resume attached and the initials of our Chief of Staff in the subject line, along with the position you’re interested in. Please let us know, in your email, why you’re right for this role. We may invite you, within a week, to respond to a brief online survey in lieu of a phone screen. We do regret that we’re unable to respond to all applicants.

This role will be fully remote through the end of 2020.

Resilient Coders is an equal opportunity (EEO) employer. We hire without regard to age, color, disability, gender (including gender identity), marital status, national origin, race, religion, sex, sexual orientation, veteran status, or any other status protected by applicable law.
