Action for Boston Community Development is a nonprofit human services organization that each year provides more than 100,000 low income residents in the Greater Boston region with the tools and resources needed to transition from poverty to stability and from stability to success. 

Duties include:  

  • Responsible for sustaining and increasing public and private revenue for ABCD programs by producing proposals, letters of inquiry, grant reports, and other fundraising materials, and for helping to lead innovation at the program level across the agency
  • Assist in the identification and cultivation of funding sources
  • Consult with ABCD program and planning staff to develop fundraising strategies and to identify and design new programs in response to resource opportunities
  • Prepare proposal text and other materials for government and foundation grant submissions, working with program and finance department staff to prepare proposal budgets
  • Ensure applications, grant reports, and renewal applications are submitted by specified deadlines
  • Assist in the development of other fundraising initiatives, including web based philanthropy and individual solicitation campaigns, taking lead on initiatives as agreed by supervisor
  •  Perform other related duties as assigned from time to time.
Job Qualifications:
  • Minimum of three to five years of experience in fundraising, grants writing or related work, with demonstrated capacity to win significant grants from public and private sources.
  • Bachelor’s degree in social service discipline or related field
  • Must have knowledge of Boston social service systems and of funding sources for human services
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively with persons from a wide variety of backgrounds and income levels
  • Ability to lead projects within a small team.
