For more than 160 years, the YMCA of the North Shore has been a leading, charitable, non-profit organization committed to strengthening the community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. With 1,300 employees and more than over 45,000 members, we are a proud, bold, and forward-focused organization dedicated to ensuring we meet the needs of all 25 communities we serve through high-quality programming, personal engagement, and state-of-the-art facilities.

Are you a community-focused leader with fundraising expertise? Do you want to make a difference in people’s lives and the communities we live in? Are you passionate about finding a job where you are aligned with and able to impact the following ideals:

  • Every preschooler should have access to high-quality childcare and nurturing teachers.

  • Individuals and families deserve affordable housing in our communities

  • Seniors need support to combat social isolation and find a healthy sense of belonging.

  • All children should be able to benefit from participating in sports, afterschool programs, summer camps and should learn to swim and become safe in the water

  • Everyone should be able to improve their mental and physical wellness in a facility equipped and staffed to help them

  • Our communities thrive when it includes a place to find unity and community and where all are welcome.

  • None of these activities should be limited due to an inability to pay!

If so, you may be the perfect candidate for the Vice President of Charitable Giving at our YMCA.  The right candidate will have the opportunity to join an amazing leadership team, work with an established team of fundraisers, deepen the engagement of a strong base of committed donors, and represent a well-respected, deep-rooted organization.

The VP of Charitable giving focuses their talent on developing philanthropic strategic planning based on best practices, teaching and training those skills to other staff and volunteers, as well as managing a high-level portfolio of major gift donors. What makes this position unique among many Development Director job opportunities is that it is collaborative and focused.  This role, reporting to the President and CEO, is also supported by highly talented teams in Marketing, Administration, Technology, and Finance.  The VP of Charitable Giving partners with seasoned Executive Directors across our communities and an Advancement team equally committed to ensuring philanthropic success. This role is NOT responsible for board development, grant writing, major special events, designing materials, event development, or managing databases.

The VP of Charitable Giving is accountable to:

  • Inspire, motivate, and affect change

  • Be the recognized leading resource of charitable giving in our YMCA

  • Engage with the community, staff, and stakeholders to deepen the Y’s charitable understanding

  • Implement strategies to maximize philanthropic opportunities

  • Assist in developing the systems to track and measure results

  • Educate and teach others how to best manage their connections

  • Lead a development staff focused on digital connectivity, local special events, administration, discovery, cultivation, and solicitations.

Our Y is seeking an individual who is committed to our mission, proud to share its story, and dedicated to building the authentic relationships and friendships needed to sustain our charitable purpose. We believe this is the right role for someone seeking the opportunity to make a difference and grow with the organization.
