Philanthropy Massachusetts (PMA) is pleased to announce the promotion of Jessica Berns to Senior Vice President of Partnerships & Strategic Initiatives. Her appointment comes weeks after PMA’s Board of Directors adopted a new strategic plan for the 57-year-old organization.
As a senior member of PMA’s executive team, reporting directly to CEO Mary Skelton Roberts, Berns will play a vital role in ensuring PMA’s overall strategic direction is implemented across all program areas. She will also oversee membership development, and other strategic initiatives for the organization.
“Our new strategic plan positions PMA as our sector’s leading statewide convener and an engine for shared learning, deeper partnerships among funders and nonprofits, and collective action around common goals to maximize the value of every philanthropic dollar invested,” Skelton Roberts said. “This promotion reflects both the scope of Jessica’s contributions and the trust she has earned among our members and our team.”
Berns joined PMA in 2019 and most recently served as Vice President, Network Vibrancy. She also served as co-interim executive director from August 2023 through April 2024.
Berns said: “This role enables me to do what I do best: support our members learning, connecting, leading, and acting together to build a more inclusive, just, and engaged Commonwealth in which everyone can thrive."
